The mechanics of US airline Comair are set to vote on a union-backed agreement.

The contract agreement reportedly includes 2% pay increases while pilots and flight attendants are being asked to freeze pay. According to The Associated Press, the vote by the mechanics will be the first test for the new Comair president Fred Buttrell's plans to make the airline more competitive.

The hourly base wages for Comair mechanics currently range between USD12.01 and USD21.97 and neither Comair nor the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers have commented on the contents of the proposed five-year agreement, The Associated Press said.

Comair is a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines.
