According to Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, the US Federal Aviation Administration is due to release a draft on the city's plan to expand Chicago's O'Hare International Airport today (13 January).

The plan had reportedly been to release the draft in February. The expansion plan includes longer and wider runways and taxiways as well as new terminals and parking for oversized jets, and also passenger jet bridges. The mayor said that it is important to speed up the timetable for the review because the airport needs to be improved. The review deals with the environmental impact of the project, which has been valued at USD15bn, The Associated Press reported.

The mayor also said that the final decision on the project was expected from the FAA in September but there is now hope that it will be made earlier.
