A Cathay Pacific Airways flight from Los Angeles to Hong Kong was diverted to Taiwan after developing engine trouble, the airline said on Friday (14 January).

Flight CX883, which was carrying 220 passengers, landed in Taipei on Wednesday (12 January) after its No 4 engine showed fluctuating readings, forcing the pilot to shut it down. There were no injuries reported, said an airline spokesperson.

It was the fourth incident involving one of Cathay Pacific's Boeing 747-400 jets in recent months, reported the Apple Daily newspaper. The airline had been reportedly forced to abort several flights because of engine troubles.
