Ryanair puts brakes on Milan expansion

Airline Industry Information, Jan 18, 2005

Irish budget airline Ryanair has partly halted its expansion plans in Italy because of a dispute with the authorities at Milan's Bergamo airport.

The carrier will now not add a fifth aircraft at the airport and will cancel three flights on routes from Milan.

Ryanair had negotiated a longer contract and cost savings with the airport in November 2004 but the airline has revealed that SACBO, the company that manages the airport, had been unable to fulfil one of the terms of the agreement.
