Maersk Air is reportedly considering other options than SAS for luggage handling.

The Danish airline, which currently uses SGS Ground Service, provided by SAS, has said that it is expecting offers from two competitors, Servisair and Novia. Maersk thinks that it would be possible to get better prices from other ground service providers, which would make tickets cheaper, the company's information director Per Brinch said.

Morten Kongstad, the sales manager for SGS, has confirmed that staff will be dismissed if SGS loses the contract with Maersk Air, reported the Danish business newspaper Borsen. There is reportedly a price war going on in the ground services industry as airlines are looking for the best prices due to the competition in the civil aviation industry.
