Taiwan has given permission to China Airlines Ltd and EVA Airways Corp to operate direct charter flights to China over the Lunar New Year holiday.
The approval is a result of an agreement between China and Taiwan to allow non-stop charter flights during the holiday.
Taiwanese carriers China Airlines and EVA Air are two companies that both sides have approved, said the director general of Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA), adding that Taiwan was still reviewing applications by several Chinese carriers to fly to the island.
