Brazilian airline Vasp may lose the right to operate a number of its routes for cancelling flights over the past few weeks, Brazil's vice president Jose Alencar has said.
Over the past few weeks the financially troubled Vasp airline has cancelled all flights that were less than half full.
Regular airlines have to follow the rules and there has to be a major problem for a flight not to take off, said Alencar, quoted by the Agencia Brasil news agency. The possible sanctions could reportedly range from fines to stripping the company of some of its routes.
However, Vasp's president said that the company would continue to cancel flights with less than 50% occupancy for the next two weeks, reported The Associated Press.
