Airline Industry Information, July 15, 2005
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Airlines in the US followed Delta Air Lines in raising the price of their highest fares on Thursday (14 July).
Delta had earlier raised the cap on its most expensive fares by USD100 because of the continued high cost of fuel. Effective immediately, the airline's one-way walk-up fares are now capped at USD599 for economy class and at USD699 for first class. A Saturday night stay is not required for these fares.
Delta Air Lines' fare change was matched by Continental Airlines, United Airlines and Northwest Airlines. Reports said that American Airlines had also raised its fares to match those of Delta.
