Sean Simon John Joyce, a British man accused of air rage, including threatening to kill all the 247 people on a US Airways flight to London, UK has been released by US prosecutors on condition that he remains with his mother in Florida until the trial.

The man allegedly attacked crew members and made threats, causing the diversion to Boston of the London-bound flight from North Carolina, USA on 11 July.

Joyce appeared in the US District Court in Boston on 12 July after being arrested at Boston's Logan International Airport the previous day.

Joyce had boarded US Airways flight 94 in Charlotte, North Carolina, after having taken a connecting flight from Miami, The Associated Press reported. According to the crew he started drinking white wine and took pills and rapidly became abusive.

Michael Andrews, Joyce's lawyer, has said that his client took pills to treat a sinus infection, apparently a medication that lists "behavioural disturbance" as a side effect. Joyce faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail, Reuters reported.
