Boeing launches new version of 737 and completes agreement with Lion Air

US manufacturer Boeing Co has launched the 737-900ER, a new version of its narrow-body 737 aircraft, and announced the completion of a sales agreement for 30 of the aircraft.

The agreement with Lion Air, an Indonesia-based low-cost carrier, was completed yesterday (18 July). According to Boeing Lion Air's order, which also contains purchase rights for another 30 aircraft, is valued at USD3.9bn according to list prices.

The aircraft manufacturer said that the new version will be the same size as the current 737-900, but will carry 26 more passengers, making the new total capacity 215 passengers in a single class, The Associated Press reported.
