The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a fine of USD1.5m against low-fare carrier Independence Air.
The airline and its predecessor Atlantic Coast Airlines had apparently flown some aircraft during September and October 2004 without completing scheduled maintenance and inspections.
According to Independence Air it voluntarily disclosed the problems to the FAA, and they have now been corrected. No incidents resulted from the oversight and passengers were not affected, the airline said.
