Turkish airport operator wins contract to operate Ataturk airport

Tepe-Akfen Vie Investment, Building and Management Inc (TAV) has been awarded the contract to operate the domestic and international terminals at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey.

The concession reportedly runs for 15.5 years and the tender was opened by the Directorate General of the State Airports Authority. According to the authority, the company won the tender by offering to pay USD2.95bn.

According to TAV CEO Sani Sener, the company completed the construction of Ataturk Airport terminal in 22 months and has operated it for four and a half years. The end of this period would be on 3 July this year and company offered the highest amount to be allowed to continue operations. The sum offered is the highest amount in Turkey's privatisation history to date, according to turkishpress.com.
