Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer believes that orders for its new family of 70- to 118-seat regional jets will exceed the orders for its smaller regional jets with 50 seats.

The company's market forecast for the next 10 years is 650 aircraft from the new family, Embraer's chief executive told Reuters.

At the end of the first quarter there were 301 firm orders for the larger Embraer jets, but that figure includes 85 ordered by US Airways, which is now in bankruptcy proceedings.
