G8 to consider proposal on airline tax for Africa aid - claim

A proposal to add an extra charge to airline tickets in order to finance extra aid for Africa is to be considered by the Group of Eight industrialised nations.
German Finance Minister Hans Eichel said after a meeting of G8 finance ministers that the suggestion for a voluntary air ticket tax was on the group's agenda.
The proposal has previously faced opposition both in Europe and the United States.
