Turkish construction company Enka Insaat has agreed with Russian airline Aeroflot to build an additional terminal at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, an Aeroflot spokesperson said on Monday (20 June).

The new terminal, to be finished by late 2007, is already under construction, said the spokesperson, but declined to provide any financial details. According to the daily newspaper Kommersant the project is worth around USD400m.

Sheremetyevo's passenger traffic in 2004 was 12.86 million, an increase of 11.5% from 2003, although its design capacity was just nine million. Sheremetyevo-3 is expected to handle nine million passengers, reported Reuters.
