Japan Airlines (JAL) is to acquire six aircraft from Boeing Co.

Both the airline and Boeing have confirmed the order of three freighter versions and three passenger versions of the 767-300ER. The deliveries of the aircraft will be between 2007 and early in 2008, The Associated Press reported.

According to JAL, the cargo aircraft will be used for medium-range routes to Southeast Asia and China. The airline declined to disclose the value of the order.

This order is reportedly an addition to a previous order for three 767-300ER aircraft that are set to be delivered later in 2005 and in 2006, adding to the 37 Boeing 767 aircraft already in the airline's fleet.
