US Airways Group Inc (OTCBB:UAIRQ.OB) has reportedly offered voluntary incentives in an effort to persuade 500 flight attendants to leave the airline.
The flight attendants who decide to voluntarily leave the airline will be offered USD10,000, and if they have at least 10 years of service they can fly free on US Airways for the rest of their lives and will be paid for unused vacation, reported the Charlotte Business Journal. However, they will be placed on "limited recall" and would not return to work unless all 1,736 attendants currently on forced lay-off are offered their jobs back.
The airline claimed it was too early to say whether it would dismiss some of its 5,400 flight attendants to reach the 500-person target.
