Chilean LAN to absorb workers of Argentinian LAFSA

Chilean airline LAN has reached an agreement with the Argentinian government to absorb all workers at Argentina's state carrier LAFSA.
LAN will also manage operations at private carrier Southern Winds, the Argentinian transport secretary said on Friday (11 March).
LAN will absorb all LAFSA workers and will form a new holding company, LAN Argentina, within 90 days. The agreement to guarantee jobs and flights at Southern Winds will last 90 days as well, said the transport secretary. No other details of the agreements have been disclosed.
LAN is also negotiating the purchase of a stake in another Argentinian airline, said LAN's chief executive, but declined to provide any other details of the talks.
