Varig criticises takeover proposal

Brazil's Varig has criticised proposals for the government to take over the airline.
The airline has said that the law-makers' proposal makes no sense at a time when it is struggling to honour its commitments despite its problems. The statement was made by the airline a day after the vice president of the country said that a takeover is possible, The Associated Press reported.
