Analysts have predicted that Lufthansa will put more pressure on its European competitors if the airline takes over Swiss International Air Lines.

The return of the Swiss company to profit is expected to be key, Reuters reported. The two airlines have revealed that they are holding talks regarding an agreement.

Analyst Juergen Pieper of Bankhaus Metzler has said that the trend is going towards three major aviation market players in Europe, Air France-KLM, British Airways and Lufthansa. This means that smaller airlines either have to find a niche or join one of the three major players.
