The European Union is reportedly waiting for clarification from the United States over the apparent breakdown in talks on subsidies for civilian aircraft manufacturers.
The negotiations, which are aimed at ending the subsidies paid to Boeing and Airbus, were broken off on Saturday (19 March) when the US apparently withdrew from the talks and threatened to take the matter back to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The EU wants to get clarification of the US position before talks resume. A spokesperson warned on Monday (21 March) that the EU would file a countersuit if the United States files a complaint with the WTO.
