The threat of a strike by baggage handlers at London's Heathrow Airport over pay and conditions has ended after talks between the two sides.

Last week the workers at ground services firm Aviance had voted in favour of a strike, fearing that the transfer of 70 workers with different pay and conditions from Swissport to Aviance could create a two-tier workforce.

The key points of dispute have now been resolved. However, the talks are to be continued as there are other issues to negotiate, said a Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU) spokesperson.
