Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE), the leasing arm of Singapore Airlines Ltd, said on Tuesday (22 March) that it would buy up to 40 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
SALE said that the deal includes 20 firm orders and 20 options, and deliveries are scheduled between the fourth quarter of 2006 and the end of 2009. The aircraft are to be powered by engines from CFM International, a joint venture between General Electric Co and French company Snecma.
The aircraft are worth USD2.6bn at list prices, but since airlines usually negotiate discounts the exact value of the contract is unknown.
