The Comair flight attendants' union is to vote on a new deal proposed by the carrier.

Comair, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines Inc, has proposed cutting new workers' starting salaries, instead of freezing flight attendants' pay. The local union's executive council has unanimously endorsed the deal, said a spokesperson for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which represents Comair's flight attendants.

Some union leaders voiced concerns about cutting the starting salaries of new flight attendants by about 20% for the first five years, but they decided that the union members should vote on the new proposal, said the spokesperson.

The 1,000-member flight attendants' union is to vote on the proposed deal through to 8 April.
