Two Japan Airlines (JAL) aircraft were involved in airport incidents on Tuesday (22 March).

The tail of a Japan Airlines passenger jet struck the runway on landing at Fukushima airport, and a maintenance vehicle hit another JAL passenger aircraft at Tokushima airport, Kyodo News reported.

A Boeing-767 from Osaka to Fukushima, east Japan, carrying 133 passengers and crew members, struck the runway at 0917 local time during landing. A shock absorber on the tail hit the runway and the body of the aircraft was not damaged.

At 1905 local time an Airbus A300 was hit by a maintenance vehicle while undergoing maintenance at Tokushima airport, west Japan. The tip of the aircraft's left wing was damaged. The aircraft was scheduled to fly 126 passengers to Tokyo but the flight was cancelled after mechanics decided the aircraft was unable to fly.

No one was injured in either accident, reported Kyodo News.
