An 18-year-old British man, Martin Halstead, is launching his own commercial airline.
Halstead has created an airline called Alpha 1 Airways and will launch the inaugural flight from Oxford to Cambridge on 18 April. Initially, he plans to lease four aircraft for the route.
The carrier is to offer two flights a day between Oxford and Cambridge. The service will be operated by an eight-seater aircraft and the fares will start at GBP49, or GBP44 for students. The flight will last 20 minutes, as compared to over two hours by car or train.
