AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

An airport worker flew from Milwaukee to Philadelphia in the cargo hold of an aircraft after colleagues accidentally shut him in.

The man was securing a wheelchair in the cargo compartment of a Midwest Airlines aircraft when the door was closed by other employees who did not realise he was there. The cargo hold was heated and pressurized during the flight and the worker was said to be "a little stressed" but uninjured upon landing.

He returned to Milwaukee in the passenger cabin.

The airline said that it would review its procedures following the incident.
