Rolls-Royce signs engine maintenance contract with Cathay Pacific

Aircraft engine maker Rolls-Royce Plc said on Wednesday (30 March) that it had signed contracts to provide Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways with long-term maintenance for two more versions of its Trent engine.

The contracts, worth USD770m, cover the Trent 800 engines on 17 Boeing 777 aircraft and the Trent 500s on three A340-600s. The agreements are an addition to existing support for the Trent 700 engines in Cathay Pacific's 23 A330 twinjets, said Rolls-Royce.

In February Rolls-Royce said that 14% growth in its engine servicing business had contributed to a 21% increase in the company's annual pre-tax profit to GBP345m.
