An off-duty flight attendant who claimed to have found a bomb threat aboard an aircraft has pleaded guilty to intentionally interfering with a flight crew.

Gay Wilson, who was off duty at the time, was travelling on an American Airlines flight when she went to the toilet and claimed to have found a bomb note. After the alleged bomb note was found, the aircraft was escorted to Nashville International Airport and evacuated. No bomb was found and the flight attendant eventually admitted that she had written the note.

The Associated Press reported that Wilson, who has been jailed since the event on 27 May last year, could face more than five years in prison. The sentencing has been set for 13 May.
