EgyptAir to acquire 12 aircraft

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The EgyptAir Holding Company is to acquire 12 aircraft from Boeing.

According to EgyptAir's chairman Sherif Galal, the airline will acquire the 12 aircraft at an estimated value of USD850m. The airline is expecting to sign the agreement for the 737-800 aircraft this week and the deliveries are expected from mid-2006 to the end of 2007.

The airline said that it is making the investment as it anticipates a growth in passengers in the near future, The Associated Press reported.
