An offer by Air Canada to mediate in a long-standing dispute over seniority has been rejected by the former Canadian Airlines pilots working for the airline.
The dispute is said to have been one of the key issues in the June cancellation of Air Canada's order for 32 Boeing 777s and 14 Boeing 787s, as the former Canadian Airlines pilots and the Air Canada Pilots Association do not have a common seniority list. The order was subject to ratification by the pilots, Reuters reported.
Air Canada said on 23 September that it had made an agreement with its pilots to enter a binding arbitration process to resolve the problems with the order.
