Hainan Airlines Co may receive a further USD25m in investment from US financier George Soros.

According to three company executives, the investment would be part of a plan to reorganise the airline and fund acquisitions and growth. In 1995 Soros paid about USD24m for 14.8% of Hainan Airlines.

New York-based Soros Fund Management LLC has declined to comment on the claim, Bloomberg reported.

Hainan Airlines is expected to make a statement in the next couple of days, a spokesman said.
