American Airlines has received antitrust immunity from the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) for a partnership with LAN Peru.

According to the airline, the immunity will permit a three-way alliance with American, LAN Peru and Chile's LAN Airlines that allows the airlines to coordinate marketing, schedules and other elements of their service. American had previously been granted antitrust immunity with LAN Airlines in 1999. Both Peru and Chile have open skies agreements with the United States.

American Airlines has also filed an application with the DOT for broad codeshare authority with LAN Peru. American already has existing codeshare authority with LAN Airlines.
