China Southern Airlines (NYSE:ZNH) is to increase flights from Australia to Guangzhou, China under a new summer schedule.

The airline said that from November it will introduce a third weekly flight from Melbourne and a fifth weekly service from Sydney, and to meet peak Christmas/New Year demand it will also add a series of supplementary flights from Sydney, offering daily service in some weeks of December and January.

China Southern also said that with Australia's southern states adopting daylight saving time from 31 October 2005 until 31 March 2006, the airline will change its schedules during this period, departing Melbourne and Sydney one hour later than at present.

Under the new schedule China Southern will fly from Melbourne to Guangzhou, via Sydney, three days a week, with a new flight on Fridays added to the current Thursday and Sunday services. Additionally, the airline will operate two flights from Sydney to Guangzhou every Tuesday and Saturday, making the number of China Southern departures from Australia each week five in total.
