Bombardier is to halt the production of its CRJ200 jet.
The aircraft maker has said that it would halt production of the 50-seat aircraft because the market is moving towards aircraft with more capacity. Bombardier will suspend the production of the aircraft model in mid-January and go ahead with a previously planned decision to lay off 660 employees in Montreal, Canada and Belfast, Northern Ireland.
John Paul Macdonald, the company's spokesman, has said that Bombardier does not yet know when or if it will relaunch production of the CRJ200. The production of the Challenger 850 business jet will not be affected by the decision to halt the CRJ200, Reuters reported.
