Japan Airlines (JAL) is the first licensed customer of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services to use its Maintenance Performance Toolbox, a set of solutions for aircraft maintenance and troubleshooting.

The Maintenance Toolbox is accessed as a secured, hosted service via an Internet browser, and JAL has access to the Structures Tool within Maintenance Toolbox under the terms of the agreement. The solution uses intelligent documents and visual navigation to assist technical operations staff when troubleshooting aircraft systems. It helps staff to manage structural repair records, task cards and parts and 3D models are provided by the Structures Tool to record, view and analyse structural repairs.

The Toolbox uses existing repair knowledge and a database of repair history records can be searched for similar repairs on other aircraft in the fleet, or repairs completed on a specific area of the aircraft. Engineers need an Internet connection and a laptop, desktop PC or pen tablet to access the system and Boeing provides interface access via MyBoeingFleet.com.
