Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is launching a direct nonstop service between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport, Israel.

According to the airline it will be the only direct connection between the US southeast and Israel and will be launched in the spring of 2006. The daily service is scheduled to commence on 27 March 2006.

The new route is part of the airline's ongoing international expansion.

Delta has said that its newest international service builds on a wave of expansion planned for 2006 between Georgia and the world, including recently announced routes between Atlanta and Dusseldorf, Germany, and Copenhagen, Denmark, both of which begin next spring.

The route will be operated with Boeing 777 widebody aircraft.
