Skyway Airlines Inc, which operates as Midwest Connect, has developed an Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and all of the airline's eligible employee groups.

The airline also said that it is one of only four US airlines to have an ASAP in place with all four employee groups -- pilots, mechanics, dispatchers and flight attendants. An ASAP is a public-private partnership intended to support and enhance the company safety culture by promoting employee involvement.

The programme, which brings together the FAA, airlines and employeegroups, encourages voluntary, non-punitive reporting of safety concerns by aviation employees to their employers.

Central to the ASAP concept is the Event Review Committee, a group made up of representatives of each party in the ASAP agreement. The group collects, analyses and uses the information made available through the ASAP to develop policy and process improvements and employee education.

According to the FAA, a total of 46 US airlines currently have an ASAP in place while out of those, only Skyway Airlines, Alaska Airlines, PACE Airlines and United Airlines have agreements with all four eligible employee groups.
