American Airlines applies for authorisation for new route

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

American Airlines Inc, a subsidiary of AMR Corporation (NYSE: AMR), has applied to the US Department of Transportation for authorisation to begin service between New York's JFK International Airport and San Jose del Cabo, in the Baja California region of Mexico, on 4 February 2006.

According to the airline, it would operate two flights a week during the peak season and one flight a week during the off-peak season, with the route being operated using a Boeing 757.
