AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
US Airways has received approval to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The approval will allow the airline to carry out its planned merger with America West, though US Airways Group Inc will have to wait at least ten days before emerging from bankruptcy protection formally. The company said that it expects to exit bankruptcy and finalise the merger by late September or early October.
Bruce Lakefield, the CEO of US Airways, said that he has confidence in the success of the merger despite the current high fuel prices and the competition in the industry, The Associated Press reported.
