Mesaba Aviation Inc, a unit of Mair Holdings Inc, has signed a contract with Northwest Airlines.
Under the terms of the ten-year service agreement Mesaba will reportedly operate 15 CRJ-200 regional jets for Northwest Airlink. The agreement also gives Mesaba exclusive rights to the next 20 CRJ-200 or CRJ-440 aircraft that Northwest orders, MarketWatch reported.
Mesaba has said that it expects the first aircraft to be delivered this week. The start of CRJ revenue service is planned for mid-October, with further plans to add three additional aircraft per month until next March, when all 15 are expected to be in service.
