Tampa International Airport reports August statistics

Tampa International Airport has reported that its passenger numbers increased by 7.43% in August.

According to the airport it handled 1.48m passengers in August 2005, compared to 1.38m for the same month in 2004, with year-to-date passenger figures seeing an increase of 10.6% to a total of 13.2m travellers. The airport also said that cargo shipments increased by 6.12% in August, while mail shipments fell by 21.7%.

The largest carrier at the airport is still Southwest Airlines, with a total of 356,731 passengers in August. The second largest is Delta Air Lines, with American Airlines third, followed by US Airways and Continental Airlines, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reported.
