Independence Air (Nasdaq: FLYi) is launching a new service from Washington's Dulles International Airport to New York's LaGuardia International Airport.

According to the airline, the service will start on 31 October 2005 and is to be operated with Airbus A319 aircraft. Independence Air said that the flight schedule will include two daily roundtrips.

The new Airbus flights are reportedly part of an overall strategic plan to reduce the total number of CRJ departures throughout the Independence Air system.

Independence Air will discontinue CRJ flights to two New York airports -- John F. Kennedy International Airport and Stewart International Airport -- after 30 October 2005 and CRJ service to three other airports -- Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Louisville International Airport and Indianapolis International Airport -- will also be discontinued on that date.
