Norwegian Air Shuttle reports passenger numbers up by 71% in August 2005

Norwegian low-fare airline Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian) reported on Tuesday (6 September) that it transported a total of 321,365 passengers in August 2005, an increase of 71% as compared to 187,558 passengers in August 2004.

The total passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 103%, and the cabin factor was up 23 percentage points to 87%. Capacity (ASK) increased by 48%.

The domestic passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 19% while capacity (ASK) decreased by 8%. The international passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 207% and capacity (ASK) by 115%.

The domestic cabin factor increased to 84% from 65% in August 2004, and the international cabin factor increased to 89% from 62%.

Norwegian estimated a yield of NOK0.60 per RPK in August 2005.
