Alaska Air Group reports figures for August

Alaska Air Group Inc (NYSE: ALK) has reported the August 2005 passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
According to the company, Alaska Airlines' August traffic decreased by 0.9% to 1.640bn revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.655bn year-on-year while the capacity for August was 2.005bn available seat miles (ASMs), 4.1% less than for August 2004. The passenger load factor for the month was 81.8% compared to 79.1% in August last year and the airline carried 1,655,300 passengers.
Alaska Airlines' RPMs for the first eight months of the year totalled 11.486bn, a 4.4% increase from 11.007bn in 2004, while capacity for the eight-month period decreased 0.7%.
Horizon Air's August traffic increased 11.9% to 236.3m RPMs from 211.1m flown in 2004. The capacity for August was 310m ASMs, 9.1% more than the 284.2m for August 2004, while the passenger load factor for the month was 76.2% compared to 74.3% in the same period last year. The airline carried 608,500 passengers.
