The Sri Lankan Tamil Tigers have rejected a proposal to hold talks at the Colombo airport.

According to S P Thamilselvan, who was quoted on a rebel website, the airport "cannot be a venue for meaningful political discussions". The rebels have reportedly travelled through the airport, but do not consider it a secure venue for talks.

The view was given during a meeting with Norwegian monitors of the truce and negotiators, The Associated Press reported.
