China Southern Airlines to dispose of old aircraft - report

In an attempt to offset increasing costs China Southern Airlines Co may offload assets which include old aircraft.
According to Xu Jiebo, a company director, the airline plans to sell 11 Boeing MD-82 aircraft this year that ceased operating in 2005, The Associated Press reported.
In addition Xu revealed that the carrier will expand its fleet in 2006 and 2007 through an investment of up to CNY21bn and it will increase its fleet this year by 15% to 299 aircraft.
By the end of 2007 the airline hopes to have a total of 330 aircraft.
