The Air Transport Association (ATA), an industry organisation representing airlines in the United States, has said that the domestic airline operations for its member carriers are running smoothly.
ATA said that, with the introduction of new security regulations, the airlines, government and airports have taken extraordinary steps to ensure that travellers fly safely and get to their destinations as scheduled.
The organisation also said that airlines have been adding staff to accommodate the increased volume of checked baggage, but still urged customers to allow a little extra time at the airport.
