An aircraft operated by Pakistan International Airlines was grounded temporarily in Oslo, Norway on Sunday (20 August).

The aircraft was grounded because the co-pilot failed an alcohol test, according to airport police. Police received a tip and the 49-year-old first officer was detained.

The police said that the man was to remain in custody until court proceedings on Monday (21 August), the Associated Press reported. Police officer Morten Teie said that the result of the blood test was also expected on Monday and, depending on the amount of alcohol in the blood, the first officer could face a prison sentence.

The aircraft was an Airbus A310 scheduled to fly to Copenhagen, Denmark, and Islamabad, Pakistan.
