The British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has warned potential bidders for the airport operator BAA to plan for upgrades and passenger growth when considering bids.

The CAA reportedly said that bidders should consider these factors when arranging finances. The warning came after news that Spain's Grupo Ferrovial, as part of a consortium, is considering a cash bid for BAA. Australia's Macquarie Airports has also been mentioned in this context, Reuters reported.

In addition the CAA said that it will set limits to airport charges according to its statutory duties.
